The Miss Alaska Organization is a not-for-profit corporation established solely to provide contestants with the opportunity to enhance their professional and educational goals, and to achieve those pursuits with the assistance of monetary awards and tuition-based scholarships. This scholarship program enables recipients to apply these grants towards furthering their education and training which will greatly enhance the probability that they will achieve their ultimate goals. The scholarship fund is based on a rich scholastic tradition that has been the cornerstone of the Miss Alaska program since 1958.
In 1970, House Concurrent Resolution Number 66 resolved that Miss Alaska shall serve as the official hostess for the State of Alaska.
The Miss Alaska Scholarship Program is part of the Miss America Organization. The Miss America Organization is one of the nation’s leading achievement programs and the world’s largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women. The Miss America Organization makes available more than $45 million in cash and tuition scholarship assistance every year. Based in Linwood, New Jersey, the Miss America Organization provides young women with a vehicle to further their personal and professional goals and instills a spirit of community service through a variety of unique nationwide community-based programs. On an annual basis, Miss America state and local titleholders, along with the Organization’s network of volunteers, participate in more than 9,000 community-service projects, providing in excess of 500,000 service hours to worthy causes.
