The 2012 Miss Anchorage, Miss Cook Inlet, Miss Anchorage Outstanding Teen Pageant
was held Saturday September 17, 2011 at the
UAA Arts Building Recital Hall.
The pageant opened with the National Anthem sung by Miss Anchorage 2011 Eden Barrington. The contestants introduced themselves during a production of "Pop, Drop and Roll". Miss Anchorage 2011 Eden Barrington and Miss Anchorage Outstanding Teen 2011 Regina Lochner provided special entertainment.
The new Miss Anchorage 2012 is Julia Marstall.
Julia performed "Roxanne de Tango" from the movie "Moulin Rouge" on violin for the talent portion of the competition. Julia's platform is "Social Awareness of Individual Responsibility - Leading By Example".
The new Miss Cook Inlet 2012 is Sabrina Willis.
Sabrina sang "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" from the Andrew Lloyd Weber musical "Phantom of the Opera" while accompanying herself on piano for her talent. Sabrina's platform is "Encouraging the Musical Arts".
The 1st Runner-up to Miss Anchorage was Sarah Lochner.
Sarah performed a show tune from "Singin' in the Rain" entitled "Make 'em Laugh". Sarah's platform is "Financial Literacy".
The 1st Runner-up to Miss Cook Inlet was Annie Margeson.
Annie performed a creative and complex dance that she choreographed herself combining a traditional Irish Trebel Reel with Jazz and Acrobatics. Annie 's platform is "Encouraging Physical Fitness Through Movement & Dance".
A Miss America Organization Outstanding Teen pageant for girls between the ages of 13 and 17 was held in conjunction with the Miss competition.
Makala Moore was crowned as Miss Anchorage Outstanding Teen.
For her talent, Makala performed American Sign Language to the song "Firework" made popular by Katy Perry. Makala's platform is "Supporting Our Troops and Their Families".
