The 2011 Miss Chugiak-Eagle River Pageant was held Saturday October 16, 2010 in the Steve Primis Auditorium at Chugiak High School. The event was a joint fundraiser with the Chugiak High Choir.
The pageant theme was "October Nights".
The new Miss Chugiak-Eagle River 2011 is 17 year old Family Partnership Charter School student Veronica Temple.
Veronica accompanied herself on guitar as she sang a song she wrote titled "I'll Never Leave Alone" for the talent portion of the competition.
The platform issue Veronica has chosen for her year of service is "Follow Your Dreams: Building Confidence to Succeed".
The 1st Runner-up to Miss Chugiak-Eagle River 2011 was 22 year old Debbe Ebben.
Debbe performed a piano solo to the song "Need You Now".
Debbe's platform is "Baldly Going-Children's Cancer Research, Fundraising and Service".
A Miss America Organization Outstanding Teen pageant for girls between the ages of 13 and 17 was held in conjunction with the Miss competition.
16 year old Chugiak High student Hannah Rockwell was crowned as Miss Chugiak-Eagle River Outstanding Teen.
For her talent Hannah performed a variation of Pachelbel's Canon in D by George Winston on piano.
Hannah's platform issue is "Supporting Those Who Defend Our Freedoms".
16 year old Chugiak High student JoEllen Walters was crowned as Miss Birchwood Outstanding Teen.
For her talent JoEllen performed a dramatic reading of the story "How the Raven Stole the Sun", a Native Alaskan story by many different authors.
JoEllen's platform issue is "Proper Disposal of Prescription Drugs:
Keeping Teens, Seniors and the Environment Safe".
The 1st Runner-up for the Outstanding Teen competition was 16 year old Chugiak High student Crystal Williamson.
For her talent, Crystal performed an a capella version of "Think of Me"
from "Phantom of the Opera".
Crystal's platform issue is "Stop Bullying and Harassment in Schools".
Queen Regent
Ella Hitz Wallace was honored for her service to the community since arriving in Alaska by bicycle in the late 1950's.
