ANCHORAGE, Alaska—May 15, 2008 — Miss Alaska Scholarship Foundation, Inc, announces the appointment of two new executive co-directors: Bonnie Faulk and Alisa Parrent. The new leadership has been installed on the cusp of celebrating fifty years of the scholarship pageant in Alaska.
New director, Bonnie Faulk, says, “We’re very excited about the celebration this year. This program has supported Alaskan women longer than most other programs in existence in this state. And the competition is getting serious. Our contestants this year are a very special group. They’ll be making appearances together prior to the state competition alongside many of the past titleholders who have competed on the national stage at Miss America. We’re raising the bar and the caliber of competition to make a solid showing at Miss America.”
Prize packages this year will likely include cash, and a full scholarship to UAA and several one-year scholarships for runners-up and top 10 finalists. In the last 50 years, an estimated $750,000 value in scholarships has been given to contestants and winners.
